Blizzard have released new Hero Talents for World of Warcraft’s upcoming expansion, The War Within. These talents are meant to add “class utility and defensive bonuses” to the game’s existing talent system, without adding any complex maintenance buffs that would increase the cognitive load. Four of the 30-something Hero Talent trees were shared, including San’layn Death Knight (Blood/Unholy specs), Chronowarden Evoker (Augmentation/Preservation specs), Lightsmith Paladin (Holy/Protection specs), and Mountain Thane Warrior (Fury/Protection specs). It looks like Blizzard is aiming to give players more support options, similar to the Augmentation Evoker, without creating a culture of individualistic number-flexing. This could be a great way to repair WoW’s competitive metagame over time.
