Blizzard is introducing a new way to play World of Warcraft: Classic with the addition of Hardcore realms, which offer permanent death. The Hardcore realms will be available on the PTR starting June 29 and are expected to officially launch later this summer. On these servers, characters cannot revive after dying and must stay as ghosts, unable to interact with their former lives. Players can opt-in to PvP through the new “Duel to the Death” feature with both players fully aware of the risk. Quality of life changes have also been added such as preventing NPCs from being attacked by opposing factions and adjusting how creatures behave. This is an exciting update for fans of the original World of Warcraft, as it adds a new layer of challenge and permanence to the game that wasn’t present before.
