Starship Troopers: Extermination Review

The release of the co-op multiplayer game Starship Troopers: Extermination in 2024 faced challenges due to the presence of other similar games. The game offers a single-player campaign as a tutorial and features a large multiplayer mode with up to 16 players. However, the lack of plot and satire, as well as the monotonous nature of the missions, hinders the overall experience. The game allows players to choose from six different soldier classes with unique abilities and equipment options. However, unlocking all the abilities and equipment for each class requires significant grinding, which may deter some players. Additionally, the game’s weapons have intense recoil, and hit markers can be unreliable. In terms of gameplay, the base-building process is quick and seamless, allowing players to construct various structures for defense. The Horde mode, which involves surviving enemy waves and reinforcing the base, stands out as one of the most enjoyable modes in the game. However, the lack of strategic coordination among teammates and limited variety in enemy types may affect the overall experience. While the game offers different modes such as Hive Hunt and ARC, the absence of base building in the former and coordination challenges in the latter may impact player enjoyment. Furthermore, the game’s empty maps and lack of polish, including performance issues, contribute to an overall lackluster experience for players. In conclusion, Starship Troopers: Extermination offers some unique features, such as the large multiplayer mode and diverse soldier classes. However, the game falls short in terms of plot, satire, and overall polish, leading to a less than satisfying gaming experience.
