Bethesda released a significant update for Starfield today, along with the game’s first paid expansion called Shattered Space. The expansion costs $30, or $27 for Game Pass subscribers, and comes with a free patch that includes various enhancements and fixes for all players. Shattered Space introduces new quests, weapons, and items, allowing players to explore Va’Ruun’kai, home to the followers of the Great Serpent. The update also addresses multiple issues reported by players, including tweaks to quests, adjustments to vehicles, and improvements to the ship-building system. The expansion presents survival-horror elements with new enemies described as “stalking abominations.” It offers a contained story with distinct mechanics and new gameplay options. The update includes PC specifications for Shattered Space, outlining the minimum and recommended requirements to ensure smooth gameplay. Additionally, the patch notes detail the changes and fixes included in the update for both PC and Xbox Series X|S. The update includes improvements to the game’s overall performance and stability. It resolves an issue that limited the number of loaded creations to 255 and makes lighting changes and enhancements. Several visual improvements and bug fixes for weapon models have been made, along with improved player headtracking when exiting dialogue. The Annihilator Particle Beam damage-over-time effect no longer affects Companions, and robots and turrets will now take damage from EM weapons. In terms of gameplay, crafting issues with The Boom Pop! Dynamite recipe have been addressed, and Elite Crew member Autumn Macmillan no longer repeats herself when asking about her sister. The update also addresses quest-related problems, such as progression issues in certain quests and inaccessible doors during specific objectives. Various location-specific issues have also been resolved, including collision problems and visual issues in different areas of the game. The update also includes several fixes and improvements to the ship-building system, addressing issues related to ship building and modifying, as well as problems with vehicle functionality. Furthermore, the update resolves numerous UI issues, including display settings, skill challenges, and menu navigation problems. It also addresses audio issues, such as power allocation audio playing repeatedly while the engine system is damaged. Overall, the update and expansion bring significant enhancements, fixes, and new content to Starfield, improving the overall gaming experience for players.
