Classic Resident Evil Trilogy Re-Release

Capcom and GOG made a surprising announcement about re-releasing the original Resident Evil trilogy on PC. The original version of Resident Evil 2 is based on the 1998 Windows PC version, not the Sourcenext version. The latter, developed by software company Sourcenext, provided higher-quality full-motion videos (FMVs). Many fans have argued that the Sourcenext version was the definitive way to play Resident Evil 2 on PC. The original Resident Evil is now available on GOG, with Resident Evil 2 and 3 expected to follow. It’s great to see these classic games being made more accessible, and it will be interesting to see how they hold up on modern PCs. It’s also worth noting that the original PC version of Resident Evil 2 received mixed reviews back in the day, with criticism for its lack of significant changes from the PlayStation version. However, with the release on GOG, it presents an opportunity for a new generation of gamers to experience these iconic titles. Overall, this re-release is exciting news for fans of the series, and I can’t wait to dive back into the world of survival horror with the classic Resident Evil trilogy.
